What’s the difference between porcelain and resin composite veneers?
Porcelain veneers resist stains better and have more shine than composite veneers but are also more expensive. Well looked after porcelain veneers can last up to 25 years whereas composite veneers are said to be less durable. Both composite and porcelain veneers can be done in one visit.
How should I care for my Veneers?
A good oral hygiene routine that includes brushing, flossing and rinsing teeth is all that is needed, nothing special. It is good to avoid coffee, tea and red wine as far as possible as it could cause staining.
Why are Veneers needed?
Sometimes stains, discoloration and decay are deeper rooted into the teeth and cannot be removed by teeth whiteners. In these cases, a patient will opt for veneers to get whiter teeth.
Other times a combination of veneers and other options are used because the teeth are too crooked and the gaps between the teeth too large.
What is the procedure for getting porcelain veneers?
At APT Dental we prepare your teeth, using minimally invasive techniques, scan them, mill the veneers and cement them in one session. When done the excess cement is removed and final adjustments are done. You will now have a whole new mouth waiting for the first person to smile at!
Who does not qualify for veneers?
Veneers are in essence porcelain and should be taken care of, so if you grind or clench your teeth often, chew hard objects like nails or use your teeth as tools you’re not a perfect candidate for veneers, as this would cause fractures and chips in the veneers.
